Offered for sale is a very fine example of a War Merit Cross with swords. This medal would have been awarded to a German soldier who completed an impressive action during combat, but was not eligible for an Iron Cross. This medal is unique because it is a late war produced cross, made of zinc, and is maker marked “53”. It is not easy to find late war zinc crosses that are maker marked.
