Offered for sale is a very impressive and exotic WW1 German/Ottoman Gallipoli Star medal. These medals were awarded to the German officers who served in the Mesopotamian campaign in the service of the Ottoman Empire. The original Turkish produced badges were so poorly made, that German officers (typically titled nobleman) went back to Germany to their personal jewelers and commissioned proper badges to be made. Some were made from silver but not all. Some were also officially produced by a big firm, but most seem to be jewelers examples. This example features gorgeous enamel work. The enamel is completely intact. These badges are a personal favorite of mine.
