WW2 German Officers 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger F.W. Holler
Offered here is a very fine example of a Luftwaffe officers 2nd model dagger. This dagger was produced by the F.W. Holler firm in Solingen Germany. This dagger is accompanied with the correct hangers, as well as the hard to find correct Luftwaffe portepee. The hanger has a period repair, where the officer stitched on some leather to reinforce the cloth hanger. The portepee is in excellent shape and has not frayed or torn. Another feature that we really like to see is the difference in color on the handle. If you notice, the front of the grip is a light orange color, but when you flip to the reverse the color is a much darker, almost pumpkin orange color. This tells us that the dagger was likely stored in an area where it was exposed to light, like the veterans house, and so the sun exposure changed the color of the grip. The scabbard is free of dings and dents, in very nice shape, and retains much of its original airplane grey finish. The blade is very minty and has little to no patination. Overall this is a top shelf 2nd model Luftwaffe fully complete with its correct accouterments.
